USC transfer Jarvis Jones will be a Dawg

Earlier this week I had a quick post up about Jarvis Jones transferring from USC to either UGA or FSU. From what I had read he was going to make his decision by the end of the month. According to AJC recruiting writer Chip Towers, Jones has made his decision and his decision is to come to the University of Georgia. Jones was in Athens the past two days checking out the campus and facilities and getting medically cleared by doctors (which he received on Thursday). Chip talked to Dell McGee, Jarvis's high school coach at Carver-Columbus. McGee told Chip that Aaron Murray and Orson Charles were big reasons why Jarvis decided to choose UGA over FSU (he was also considering Clemson and North Carolina). Jones will red-shirt this year at UGA in order to get his body back in shape but he will have 3 years of eligibility left to play in Georgia's new 3-4 defense.

In other recruiting news two UGA targets will be announcing their college plans this week. Dalton OT Watts Dantzler, who originally was going to announce on his birthday in December, will make a decision between Auburn and UGA on Fathers Day (This Sunday- get your dad the new re-issue of the Stones "Exile on Main Street"). His dad recently lost a battle with ALS and passed away. Watts is announcing on Fathers Day to honor his dad. His dad, Danny Dantzler, played OL for Georgia in the early 70s. The other announcement will come from Tucker linebacker James Vaughters. Vaughters will choose between Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State and Stanford. Vaughters will announce on Thursday. From everything I hear I would be shocked if Vaughters picked anybody other than Stanford.
